How To Build an AI Agent With ChatGPT in N8N

I often get asked about creating AI employees, and the biggest mistake I see is people asking the wrong questions. Whether you’re leading humans or AI, it all comes down to asking better, more intentional questions. When I build agents in N8N, I always start by crafting really clear system prompts, usually with the help of ChatGPT. I keep the focus tight—like telling the agent it’s an expert in N8N, JavaScript, and JSON—so the responses stay relevant.

One example I worked on was a subject line generator for emails to help improve open rates. I fed the agent two key resources: a list of proven subject line formulas I created and deep research on Perry Belcher’s email strategies. Even though my original prompt wasn’t perfectly written, I made sure it clearly explained what I wanted the agent to do, what inputs it would get, and what the output should look like. ChatGPT helped me build a solid system prompt that worked right out of the box.

The key lesson? Ask better questions, use the right tools, and keep refining until you get the results you need.

Book I’m Currently Reading 🕮

Reading The 6 Habits of Growth hit me in a surprisingly personal way. Brendon doesn’t just hand you another list of success tactics—he invites you to confront the patterns that either expand or limit your life. What really landed for me was his focus on intention. It’s not about grinding harder or chasing more, but about choosing how you show up, how you think, and what you consistently practice.

One habit that stuck with me was “Generate Energy.” It made me realize that growth isn’t this distant milestone; it’s something you build in the small, daily moments—how you manage your emotions, your body, your focus. I’ve often thought about growth in terms of strategy and systems (I mean, I build those)—but Brendon reminded me that sustainable growth is deeply human. It’s about energy, courage, and connection.

What I’m walking away with is this: growth isn’t just about performance metrics. It’s about building a life that feels fully alive. And that’s not something you stumble into—it’s something you choose, over and over again.
