Atiba’s Musings 🤓
The #1 Skill Every Leader Needs: Communication Lessons
It’s been 10 days since I moved halfway across the world, and honestly, it’s been a crash course in communication. Every single day, I’ve learned something new, not just about a new place or culture, but about how people really connect and understand each other.
Back home, we’re used to living in our own environment, our comfort zone, and we expect the people who enter our world, whether it’s our team, our spouse, or even our kids, to just “get” how we communicate. But when you suddenly find yourself in their world instead of yours… that’s when you realize how much you’ve been taking communication for granted.
Here’s what I mean, I was setting up internet service the other day, and the agent told me I could get a “no contract” plan. Perfect, I thought! Then I looked at the form, and right at the top it said “12-month contract.” So I asked him about it, and he said, “Yes, no contract!” We went in circles for a while until I finally read the fine print, turns out, “no contract” here means you pay for all 12 months upfront, no refunds.
That moment stopped me in my tracks. Same words, same language, but totally different meaning. It made me realize that most of the problems we face, whether in business, in our teams, or even at home, come down to simple miscommunication. We assume people understand us the same way we understand ourselves. But often, they don’t.
So now I’m challenging myself and I’m challenging you, too — to slow down and really listen. Don’t just hear the words people say; try to understand what they mean.
👉 I’d also love to hear from you, just reply to this email and tell me, what’s one communication challenge you’ve faced lately?
▶️ If this hit home for you, watch the full video, I go deeper into what this move has taught me about leadership and communication.

The Delegation Trap 📕

When communication breaks down, delegation fails. Simple as that.
The Delegation Trap isn’t just about handing off tasks — it’s about creating clarity before you delegate. Without clear communication, delegation turns into confusion, and confusion turns into control.
Inside the book, you’ll learn:
The C.A.S.E. Method for clear delegation that sticks
How to communicate expectations so your team succeeds without micromanagement
Why “done your way” isn’t always “done the right way”
How clarity in communication frees your time and your team
👉 Learn how clear communication creates confident leadership.
Bonus Insight 🎁
Here’s a truth: miscommunication costs more than mistakes.
Most of us think breakdowns happen because of poor strategy — but often, it’s because expectations weren’t clearly said or understood.
On LinkedIn, I shared a short post about how one unclear instruction snowballed into days of confusion — and how one clear conversation fixed it all.
💬 What’s one area in your business where clearer communication could save time or stress?

Book I’m Currently Reading 📚

Relentless — From Good to Great to Unstoppable
By Tim S. Grover & Shari Wenk
Grover’s words cut deep into how we communicate with ourselves — because internal clarity drives external strength.
My favorite line this week:
“Clarity comes when you stop lying to yourself about what you want.”
This book reminds me that effective communication doesn’t just happen with others — it starts with being honest within.
👉 If you want to communicate like a leader, start with self-honesty.
